Honored in 2016 for "Academic Leadership" by the Mobile County Public School system, Bob Grip has anchored the news on FOX10/WALA for the past 34 years. He also produced the award-winning weekly crime-fighting series, FOX10 News Fugitive Files, which has led to more than 710 arrests and for which he received the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award.
For 25 years, he was a faculty member in the Communication Arts Department at Spring Hill College in Mobile, teaching Multiplatform Journalism. Over the years, FOX10 has hired more than a dozen of his former students.
He is also the Quizmaster of the academic quiz program, HiQ which travels to 15 high schools in Mobile County at least once a year.
Bob also served for 2 years as president of an international non-profit organization of scholars, and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Bob graduated cum laude with degrees in Communications and Secondary Education from Boston College. He also earned a Master's degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University where he was also a Teaching Associate.
His work has taken him around the world and across the coast, earning statewide honors as Best Anchor and Best Reporter. He even earned a mention in the Congressional Record!
The Mobile Press Club honored him with its John Harris Achievement Award, which is presented to a member of the news media “who has made a consistently excellent contribution over a period of time”. Bob recently announced plans to retire from FOX10 by January, 2019.
