MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- We are now just four days away from Christmas and as lots of you still await last minute deliveries -- porch pirates continue to strike.

Tis the season For gift giving and apparently gift taking. Door bell surveillance video sent in by a FOX 10 viewer shows a man doing just that. Like others -- the victim had a last minute Christmas package delivered Thursday, December 20th, only she never received it. That's because it was stolen in broad daylight.

But the suspects don't always get away with the crime. -- That was the case Wednesday in Walton County. Sheriff's investigators say a suspect appeared to be acting as a good Samaritan -- rolling up the garbage can from the street -- but actually stole a package off the porch of a home in Santa Rosa Beach.

Thanks to the surveillance video, deputies identified and arrested 40-year-old James Hamill. He faces burglary and theft charges.

Investigators say one way to prevent this from happening to you -- is always have the packages delivered to a place where someone will be there to sign for it.
