They drove up on an aluminum boat with a trolling motor -- stopping at Dauphin Island's Harbor House. Although it's hard to make out in the surveillance video -- three people were on the small boat, but only one gets off -- a guy with an obvious limp.
"He's very brave. Not only to come in somebody's backyard but steal something in the first place but to do it while there is over 100 people here at a party dancing and celebrating -- just takes a lot of you know what," said T.J. Haughton, Charter Captain at Harbor House.
Haughton keeps his boats and equipment at the Harbor House. On the night of the of the burglary back in May there was a 50th anniversary celebration going on with guests just feet away from the dock. Surveillance cameras caught it all unfold.
In the beginning of the footage you see two guys standing on the dock -- they're actually guests of the party and are seen talking to the guy with the limp.
"He actually smoked a cigarette with one of the guests. Acted like he was with the party," said Haughton.
Once the two guests walked away it was game on.
"He jumped off the boat, grabbed stuff... Jumped back on and took off," said Haughton.
He stole more than $1,500 worth of rods an reels.
"That adds up quick," said Haughton. "People work hard for their items. They don't appreciate it. Go get a job, buy your own stuff, don't steal my stuff."
If you recognize the guy in the video call Dauphin Island Police: 251-861-5523.
Meanwhile, we have a "Caught In The Act" extra.
Team Sheriff releasing surveillance video earlier this week from a vehicle burglary on Bellefountain Boulevard. It happened last Friday July 13th.
Two suspects seen in the video. A guy in the dark shirt is seen taking a gun from the car -- but the second guy in the white shirt appears to be the lookout -- and is already armed with a gun.
The Mobile County Sheriff's Office needs help identifying these guys -- but more importantly urges residents to not take matters in their own hands -- instead call 9-1-1.
And as always, if you have footage of people "Caught In the Act" -- we want to see it. Email it to us to firstname.lastname@example.org. We may show it in our newscast.
