CANTONMENT, Fl. (WALA) -- Escambia County Sheriff's investigators need help identifying a suspected thief who stole from a church.

According to deputies, the crime happened on November 18th around 10:30 p.m. at Gonzales United Methodist Church. The suspect stole a ficus tree at the front of the church.

Surveillance video shows him sizing up the big potted tree -- even walking back to his small compact car to see if it would fit. He struggles trying to pick it up, but eventually manages to stuff it in the back seat.

Escambia County Sheriff's investigators dubbing him this crime "How the Grinch stole a Ficus."
