Store managers at Ace Hardware Store on Moffett Road catch a man on camera stealing $500 worth of merchandise.

At first glance, the man appears to be just another customer shopping for tools, but minutes after entering the store security cameras show him stuffing drilling and driving tools inside of his pants.

Video shows him picking up a number of items, like drills and wrenches, and stuffing them inside of his coat and pants pocket.

Store managers say the suspect managed to walk away with six pretty heavy hammers inside of his pants and even stopped to talk to the cashier on the way out.

Assistant Store Manager, Dwayne Andrus, said, "He wanted to know when our next shipment was going to be in. She (the cashier) told him when it would be and he said he would come back then. Of course, he hasn't returned back."

All of this happened the day before Thanksgiving.

The suspect walked away with $500 worth of merchandise and according to managers, this isn't his first time stealing from the store.

Andrus recognized the suspect from another incident in September.

"He hit us once. It was a little over $200, I believe, in merchandise that he took at that time. But again, a lot of craftsman tools: wrenches, socket sets and things of that nature," Andrus said.

The man who did his best to avoid cameras may be behind bars pretty soon.

Investigators with The Mobile County Sheriff's Office were able to identify the man through surveillance video and witness statements.

They expect to make an arrest in the next couple of weeks.
