Chinese manufacturing company brings US headquarters to Loxley

A China-based compressor company is moving its US headquarters to Loxley.

Kaishan Group broke ground in Loxley’s industrial park just north of town Monday, July 16, 2018. Kaishan is making an $11 million dollar investment in the area over the next three years and will be filling 60 new positions.

Shovels turning dirt to welcome in new or expanding businesses is becoming a more and more common sight in Baldwin County. Kaishan manufactures a variety of industrial compressors, boasting world-class efficiency and reliability. CEO of US Operations, Keith Schumacher said the choice of Loxley was an easy one.

“We have access to the I-10 corridor. We have access to the ports,” Schumacher pointed out. “From this community here, you can draw from labor from Robertsdale to Baldwin to the eastern shore to north of here so we have a lot of opportunity in all respects.”

Kaishan Group is the world’s third largest manufacturer of air compressors and will build a 65,000 square foot manufacturing and warehousing facility here. With it will come 60 manufacturing jobs and an annual payroll of more than three million dollars.

“Initially here it’s going to be technology jobs, engineering jobs, primarily associated with development and process work and then that’s going to segue into assembly and as we announced today, there’s also going to be precision machining and grinding there so it will be skilled machine operators also,” Schumacher explained.

With Interstate 10 just two miles to the south and I-65 easily reachable to the north, this part of Baldwin County is already home to several other large companies. Loxley mayor, Billy Middleton said he expects to see this growth continue.

“I think it’s going to be the place before too long because everything else is filling up and it’s so easy, accessible, easy to Mobile, Pensacola, Gulf Shores or wherever you want to go,” Middleton said. “It’s just a thirty-minute drive just about. Location is a big selling factor right now.”

Kaishan will have the new facility up and running by May of 2019 but are looking to fill positions now. A list of positions can be found online at
