Alabama State Troopers are investigating a pair of fatal crashes in Mobile County.

Officials say just after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, troopers responded to a fatal crash on Bellingrath Road near Jeanette Avenue. John Dempsey Ryder, 56, of Citronelle, was traveling north on a 1994 Honda motorcycle when he collided head-on with a southbound 2005 Honda Pilot. Ryder, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Authorities say the second crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. on AL 217 (Lott Road) near Valhalla Drive and involved a pedestrian. Mittie L. Rodgers, 22, of Wilmer, was on the scene of a previous crash, without injuries, in which she was not involved.

She was walking in the roadway when she was struck. Rodgers was transported to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Nothing further is available on either crash as troopers continue to investigate
