Reports about stolen guns may be causing some concern among some people in Mobile who are thinking about buying a gun.
A woman who says she wants to buy one expressed her concern to the Mobile City Council Tuesday.
Sylvia Reed told the council she was thinking about buying a gun, but was afraid it might get stolen because her locked car keeps getting broken into in her neighborhood.
Reed says she's had a lot of important documents stolen out of her car.
But council members had a suggestion.
Reed asked the council, "How can I become a gun owner, and become a responsible gun owner, if I'm experiencing someone going in and out of my car, locking it back, but getting that item out there, of importance out there, paperwork mostly?"
Council Vice-President Levon Manzie said for about $29 she could get a safe, "And all those important documents, you need to take them in the house. Don't leave them in the car for people to get. Take your important documents in the house. Put them in a safe."
