MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- After nearly four months on the run, a man wanted for a shooting that happened on Christmas Day has been arrested.
Deon Johnson, 25, was located by investigators in Mobile and booked into jail Tuesday morning. Police said Johnson took part in a shooting on Alba Street at Bayview Avenue on December 25, 2018.
According to Mobile Police, Johnson and another man fired several shots at a vehicle with two adults and two children inside. Both of the adults were hit by bullets and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The children in the vehicle were not wounded.
At the time of that shooting, Deon Johnson was out on bond for murder. Mobile Police said he shot and killed Chance Ollhoft at a home on Rothfield Place on September 29, 2016. According to jail records, Johnson was released on bond on October 13, 2017.
Johnson, who was a former star football player at Spanish Fort High School, is also a registered sex offender due to a 2014 rape conviction in Baldwin County. According to the Alabama Sex Offender Registry, he was convicted of the second-degree rape of a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl.
Johnson is now facing four charges of attempted murder and charges of firing shots into an occupied vehicle.
