West Mobile police chase

Police are shown on the scene where a chase ended in West Mobile.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A black Nissan Versa was reported stolen in Mobile last month. This morning, an officer spotted it on Franklin Creek Road in Mississippi.

Police attempted to stop the black Nissan at about 10:20 a.m. but the person driving the car refused to stop. The driver led police on a high-speed chase that crossed into Alabama, back to Mississippi and then into west Mobile.

Mobile Police say the chase ended whenever the driver crashed into a curb at the intersection of Cottage Hill Road and Leroy Stevens Road. The passenger side tire blew out and the car stopped in the middle of Leroy Stevens Road.

Mobile Police say three people were inside the car at the time of the crash.

"Two were detained in the vehicle. One did try and run into the woods and was later detained by police," said MPD Cpl. LaDerrick DuBose.

MPD detained a woman and two men. It's still not clear whether or not all three suspects will face charges.

DuBose says at least one of the three suspects will be charged with receiving stolen property.
