ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A deputy shot a suspect after being struck by a vehicle Saturday, according to the Escambia County Sheriff's Office in Florida.

The Sheriff's Office reports that at about 1 p.m. the deputy attempted a felony warrant service in the 4600 block of Erress Boulevard. During the warrant service, the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle, striking the ECSO deputy.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy fired at the vehicle, striking the suspect.

The suspect was then transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-life threatening injury, ECSO says.

The ECSO deputy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for multiple non-life threatening injuries.

"Per policy, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was notified and responded to investigate the officer involved shooting," ECSO says.
