Investigators made some quick arrests in this shooting. 30-year-old Rory Smith and 25-year-old India Nelson were charged with murder, shooting into an occupied building, and criminal mischief first degree.
Detectives believe they were shooting in a unit at the Carondolet Apartments.
Lt. Charles Bagsby with Mobile Police Department said, "Homicide investigators responded and learned that the shooting did occur inside the residence."
Family members told us that Smith is a Baker High School student who was in JROTC and had aspirations of joining the military. As a freshman, he played football for Blount High School.
Details are cloudy as to how this happened, why the two suspects were at the home, or their relationship to the victim. Police did tell us however, the two suspects have a previous dating relationship.
Both suspects weren't too happy as they were being taken into Metro Jail this morning. Nelson apologized and said she didn't mean for that to happen. She also told us she didn't know the victim.
Rory Smith, on the other hand, cursed at us, refusing to answer any questions and also threatened to spit on reporters.
