It's like 2018 was the year of the recalls for blood pressure medications.
Dozens of medications used to treat the condition have been recalled over the past several months, as federal investigators discover potentially cancer-causing impurities in them.
On Thursday, Aurobindo Pharma added its blood pressure medication Valsartan to the list, following concerns that tablets might contain trace amounts of a cancer-causing ingredient.
There have been so many types of Valsartan recalled this year that the FDA has created a website listing just for them.
A common thread among all of these recalls is that the drugs, or ingredients in the drugs, were all made in China or India.
An FDA spokesman says the agency is still investigating how these drugs became contaminated. The agency says while there are amounts of cancer-causing chemicals in Valsartan, the risk of getting cancer from the drug is very small.
The list of the recalled Aurobindo Valsartan tablets can be found on the FDA website.
People can also search the agency's site for all drugs that have been recalled.
