Family members said Jean Paul Leonard was killed when his home on Meyers Road went up in flames around 2 p.m. on May 14.

Leonard's mother and a two-year-old sibling were also in the house when the fire started. The mother was able to get the two-year-old to safety but when she tried to rescue the four-year-old, she couldn't get back inside.

"We gonna mourn together because this is a community. I feel like I lost my son. The other residents in the city feel like they lost their child tonight," said Quinn Austin-Pugh, a family friend.

The mother remains hospitalized. Investigators have not said how the fire started.
