Mobile Police tell FOX10 News two men wanted for a random, unprovoked shooting of a family of four are a top priority. It happened Christmas afternoon near Alba and Bayview, in South Mobile. One of the suspects, is out on bond, getting ready to stand trial in March for a 2016 murder.
This is 20 year old Coniah Leangelo DuBose, and 25 year old Deon Carnell "DJ" Johnson. Police say they fired several rapid fire rounds into a car, with a family of four inside. Investigators say the street was littered with almost 20 spent shell casings.Two adults-a man and woman-were wounded, but are recovering. Two children, also in the car, were not hit by the gunfire. The victims and suspects knew each other, according to police, but the man and woman have no idea why they were targeted. The victims names are not being released at this time, but M-P-D considers DuBose and Johnson armed and dangerous, especially in light of what they're calling a random, and "unprovoked attack".
"DJ" Johnson is known to Baldwin and Mobile County lawmen. The former Spanish Fort High Sch0ol football star was convicted of raping two teen-age girls in 2014, one just 14 years old. He is a registered sex offender in Baldwin County.
In 2016, Mobile Police say Johnson murdered Chance Offhoft. he's been out on bond, awaiting trial.
