Officials say Baldwin County Sheriff's deputies attempted to make a traffic stop for speeding on November 7th on a 2015 Chevy Camaro on Hwy 90 in the Elsanor community.
Deputies say the vehicle fled from deputies and a pursuit was initiated.
They say the vehicle came to a stop after it had engine troubles and deputies were able to take a person initially identified as Bradley Lee Layland of St. Augustine Beach, FL into custody.
After interviewing the suspect, it was discovered the suspects real name was Christopher N. Garett of Cartersville, Georgia.
Garett was initially arrested for Attempting to Elude and Driving Under the Influence. A search of the vehicle revealed that Garett had over 3.2 pounds of methamphetamine, counterfeit currency, marijuana, and a pistol in his possession. He is currently being charged with the following:
Trafficking in Methamphetamine
Possession of Marijuana 1st
Possession of a Concealed Weapon without a Permit
Driving Under the Influence
Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
Garett also has federal warrants for Counterfeiting and Drug Conspiracy. He is being held at the Baldwin County Correction Center.
