Hangout Festival road closures begin in Gulf Shores

Hangout Festival is only a couple of days away, and Gulf Shores Police are already gearing up for the increase in traffic.

As of now—Highway 59 south of west 1st Avenue and Highway 182 and Beach Boulevard between West and East 2nd Street is closed to pedestrians and vehicle traffic.

Beginning on Thursday morning E 1st and 2nd Ave will become one way to accommodate all the festival goers who are walking in the area.

Set up has already started down at the beach for the festival—and public beach access by the Hangout closed Monday as crews get ready for the big weekend.

Gulf shores police urge you to pay extra attention while you are driving this week even before the festival starts.

“If I didn’t have to go that direction I would probably go through the state park, or go through Orange Beach, just to avoid the congestion, but I don’t really anticipate any huge delays other than just the standard backup,” said Sgt. Jason Woodruff with the Gulf Shores Police.

Normal traffic flow in the area won’t pick back up until next Tuesday.

The music festival kicks off Friday—with a pre-party on Thursday night.
