ATMORE, Ala. (WALA) -- The Alabama Department of Corrections said an inmate from Mobile County committed suicide at the Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore.
Investigators said Rashaud Dederic Morrissette, 24, was found dead in a housing area at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, March 8. Corrections officials said his death has been ruled a suicide. Results are pending from an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Morrissette was sentenced to three years behind bars in December 2018 for a third-degree burglary conviction in Mobile County.
The state is also investigating a prison murder that happened Tuesday in Bibb County. Investigators said Quinton Ashaad Few, 27, was stabbed to death by 31-year-old Terrence Griffin.
Griffin is currently serving a life sentence on a 2011 murder conviction in Tuscaloosa County. He's now charged with capital murder in the death of Few.
Few was serving a 20-year-sentence for a 2010 robbery in Clay County.
