Meet 8-year-old race car driver Nicolas Denton.

Better known as Cole Trickle.

Yes, like Tom Cruise's character from the movie.

"I was four years old when I watched the movie Days of Thunder then I started loving racing."

He also loves Mello Yello, just like Cole Trickle.

"Because of Cole Trickle and it makes me go crazy and want to get in the race car and gives me a lot of energy, so I can race really good," said Denton.

Some might argue that he was born in the wrong decade.

But his old soul doesn’t stop him taking care of business.

"Well my average lap speed is 62 miles per hour probably about 70 going into the corner," said Denton.

It's the adrenaline that he loves.

"It doesn’t scare me because I’m used to it," said Denton.

Denton keeps the pedal to the metal in hopes of becoming the next NASCAR star while hopefully not hitting the pace car.

"You got to keep the pedal down. Don’t let up," said Denton.

If you would like to meet Nicolas Cole Trickle and other young racers that we've featured on Fox Ten News you can head to Sunny South Raceway this Saturday for fan/driver appreciation night.
