A Holloway Elementary School teacher is on leave after allegations he hit an 8-year-old boy in the mouth.

Latosha Buford says she wants answer after her son came home Monday with a busted lip.

"It cannot keep going on. They cannot keep putting their hands on kids," Buford said.

Buford says she's frustrated and concerned after her son, King, came home from school with a busted lip.

"My son was hit in the mouth with a ruler by his teacher and his lip was busted and has gum was scratched, too," she said.

Buford posting pictures on Facebook saying she needs to know why this happened to her son. She also says she wasn't notified by school administrators.

"He said he was scared and didn’t want to get in trouble when he goes back to school," she said. "He said his teacher hit them in the mouth because he thought he was making squeaky noises but he wasn’t so he walked up, hit him with the ruler and told him 'I’m tired of you'."

The school system says it's looking into the report and not naming the teacher. They sent FOX10 a statement: "Mobile County Public Schools is investigating the allegations. A teacher has been placed on administrative leave."

Buford said she was notified about the teacher's status on Tuesday, but for her, it's not enough.

"I’m very uncomfortable because you send your kids to school to learn not get hit," she said shaking her head in disappointment. "I know he has problems ADHD but if you can’t handle that put him somewhere with someone who can. Don’t hit on anyone’s kids."

Buford says she has pulled her son from Holloway Elementary until further notice. She says she's working to get him transferred to another school.
