Goats killed by loose dog in Fairhope

Three of the five goats that were killed when a loose dog jumped into a Fairhope families' backyard.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) - A Fairhope family is warning the public to be on the lookout for a dog they say hopped their backyard fence and killed their five pet goats Thursday morning.

One of the goats was decapitated, and another was pregnant, the family tells FOX10 News. They didn't want to be identified, but live in the area of Danne Road in southeast Fairhope.

The dog appeared to be a pit-bull/mastiff mix with caramel/red hair, according the goats' owners. A family member saw the dog standing over the dead goats before 7:30 a.m. None of the goats survived the attack and a police report was filed.

A neighbor in the area tells FOX10 News he's seen a pack of stray dogs on one of his camera's and believes they could have an owner because they are well fed.
