SUMMERDALE, Ala. (WALA) - Summerdale Police said an argument between four people ended with one man dead and a woman injured.
Officers were called to the scene off County Road 83 around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3.
According to investigators, there was a fight between four people sometime overnight. That fight left Walter David Powers dead. Officers found his body in his yard after his fiancée walked to a neighbor's home to call 911 Monday morning.
Summerdale Police said Powers was not shot or stabbed and they believe he was beaten to death. His fiancée was taken to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley and is expected to recover.
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation. Deputies took two persons of interest into custody for questioning. Summerdale Police Chief Kevin Brock said the persons of interest live on the property with Powers and his fiancée but in a separate mobile home.
Brock described the fight as a "domestic type situation" and said that his officers have been called to the property several times in the past.
