Missing Baldwin County bicyclist found dead in a ditch

(FOX10 News)

A mysterious death in Baldwin County.

A man who went missing over the weekend was found dead in a ditch Wednesday afternoon..

The man's body found off county road 71, not far from county road 48.

Summerdale Police say they do not expect any kind of foul play.

They tentatively believe the 57 year-old man died of natural causes, but they won't know for sure until an autopsy is done.

They believe it's the same man they've been looking for since Monday.

He was last seen Saturday.

They have not released his name.

They say a passerby found his body about 4 o'clock in a deep ditch.

Police also say they found a bicycle in the ditch.

Police say there is no damage to it and they didn't find any skid marks on the road, which may rule out any kind of hit and run.

Detective John Gleaton with the Summerdale Police Department said, "We knew the manner of transportation the missing person used was a bicycle and we found the bicycle that matches his description, his bicycle here, and then we called in the sheriffs office to assist us with the crime scene unit to make sure that we didn't leave anything out. And they did an excellent job as did the coroner's office and the Summerdale Fire Department they all assisted us with this case."

Investigators hope to release more information later Thursday.
