Owner abandons injured horse in downtown Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- Mobile Police are on the hunt for a horse-owner who left their injured animal on a street downtown.

Investigators said a truck was pulling a blue horse trailer when the horse's legs broke through the floor and hit the road around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, October 31. Police said the driver of the truck eventually stopped and tied the horse to a tree in front of a home on St. Francis Street at Washington Avenue. Officers said the driver then drove off, abandoning the injured horse.

Police were called and officers found the horse had injuries to both of its hind legs. A veterinarian ended up having to put the horse down because the injuries were just too severe.

Now, MPD investigators are trying to track down the owner. If you recognize the truck and trailer or have any information about this incident, you are asked to call Mobile Police.
