Karlan Drive scene

Emergency officials are on the scene at a Karlan Drive residence in Mobile, where three people were found dead.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Three people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in West Mobile, according to Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste.

This happened at a residence at 5004 Karlan Drive. That's off Demetropolis Road, in the Terrace Hills neighborhood.

Units were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m.

Battiste said the initial call came in as a disturbance, and when officers arrived they found three deceased people inside the residence. The deceased -- two adult males and a female -- are all related, he said.

Police said the scene was contained to the home, and that there was no danger to people in the area.

Hugh White lives in the neighborhood and said police told him shortly after the incident that the victims were a mother, father, and son.

White said, "I've seen the mother and father quite a bit, waved to them as they go by. I've seen the the son out putting the garbage can out, bringing it back in, but I never knew there was anything wrong."

Another neighbor who didn't want to be identified told a similar story.

She said, "They were just a very quiet little old couple. I did start noticing a male there because they would like take out the trash, but I just assumed that he had moved in the house because people have been moving in and out here probably for the last five years, so, but to hear it was them still living there and their relative it was quite heartbreaking."

Police haven't released the cause of death, names or who was the aggressor.

They say the investigation is still ongoing.
