MPD makes arrest after driveway robbery left woman injured

The Mobile Police Department is warning the public about two alleged rape suspects targeting the downtown area. According to Chief Lawrence Battiste in the last month, the department reported two sexual assault cases with similar stories by the victims.

In both cases, Chief Battiste said, the suspects told their victims they were in the military to befriend the victims. The latest case was this past Saturday. He said, "Indicating to them they are in the military and getting them to befriend them and going off with them."

Chief Battiste said the men are between 20-30 years old.

"One of the guys is a white male and has blonde streaks in his hair. The other is a black guy and he is bald" he added.

Downtown restaurants and bars have formed an alliance to keep the public safe.

"It's like a family downtown. We always let everybody know. People at Mama's, Three George's, Loda Biergarten and Roosters because we all support each other as well" said Rachael Busby, a server at Montegos Cafe and Bar.

MPD wants the public to be aware of their surroundings in the downtown area. Chief Battiste is asking people if they have seen any suspicious activity in the downtown area to speak up.
