PRICHARD, Ala. -- The Prichard Police Department is searching for a murder suspect, and the department is warning the public the suspect is armed and "extremely dangerous."

The PPD issued the following:

"On 1/30/2019, Prichard Police responded to the 1200 block of 1st Ave in reference to one being shot. Upon arriving at this location, officers observed a blk male subject lying motionless on the ground. EMS was requested to the scene, but the victim was pronounced deceased on scene. After speaking with witnesses (family members), Prichard Detectives along with MCSO Investigators, were able to return to the scene, and retrieve the physical evidence that was initially undiscovered. Detectives were also able to learn through their investigation, that this incident was related to a family altercation between the victim Levon Anderson, and his nephew Dante L. Briggs, who is now being sought after by police for questioning, and possibly the murder of his uncle, Levon Anderson.

"Dante Briggs is considered ARMED & EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

"If anyone has information on the location of (Dante Briggs), they are asked to contact the local authorities or Prichard Police @ (251) 452-2211, and not to approach subject."
