Dozens of proud parents, teachers, and friends packed Robertsdale High School this morning for its first ever military signing day.
We’re told 28 students enlisted this morning to branches of service like the Alabama National Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Airforce, and NROTC.
This year was the first time the school held a military signing day, but with the amount of full scholarships awarded and size of the school’s ROTC program, it won’t be the last.
“It’s a great opportunity for these kids and it takes a little courage to sign. We’re proud of all the ones, not just the ones in JROTC, but the other students around the campus as well,” said Lt. Commander Frank Starr, a JROTC instructor at Robertsdale High.
Lt. Starr tells us more than three million dollars worth of scholarship money was awarded to his students and others who enlisted across campus.
