A deputy with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was hit by a vehicle after he tried to stop two individuals attempting to pick up a child at an elementary school without authorization.
Officials say the deputy was working at TR Jackson Elementary the afternoon of Thursday, March 14, when he was advised that two individuals were attempting to pick up a child.
According to authorities, when the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the car hit him causing injuries. As the vehicle was fleeing the scene, the driver almost hit a member of school administration.
A bolo was issued for the vehicle. Almost immediately, officials say a major with the agency located the car and pursued it along with Sheriff Bob Johnson. They say the vehicle exited onto hwy 87 and ultimately crashed on Persimmon Hollow Rd in Milton.
A male and female exited the vehicle and ran on foot. Both suspects were apprehended. Narcotics were located in the vehicle after it was search.
The two suspects were identified as 26-year-old Arthur Tanner Buckhault and 21-year-old Amber Lynn Holder. They are currently booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail.
The deputy was transported to a local area hospital.
