CITRONELLE, Ala. -- The Mobile County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the officers involved in an officer-involved shooting which left one man dead.
This happened on Prine Road Friday, September 8.
The officers who fired their weapons have been identified as Satsuma Police Chief Shane Stringer and Citronelle police officer Alfred Webb.
MCSO Capt. Paul Burch told FOX10 News that officers in Citronelle responded to a domestic call and knew the man involved was armed. He said officers not employed by the Sheriff's Office tried to get him to give himself up.
The suspect has been identified as 63-year-old Ulman Jerald Roberts.
According to sheriff's officials, Roberts broke into the home occupied by his estranged wife. They say his estranged wife fled the home and ran to a neighbor calling 911.
When his estranged wife fled the home, authorities say Roberts then barricaded himself inside the home refusing to exit.
The suspect started firing and officers returned fire, hitting him, Burch said. He was transported by air to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
No officers were hurt during the shooting, Burch said.
