ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WALA) - Investigators said a teenager shot his aunt during a robbery in Robertsdale on Monday morning.

Deputies were called to a home on Newport Road at 6 a.m. after receiving a 911 call that a woman was shot. The victim was taken to a hospital in Pensacola for treatment of gunshot wounds to the leg and hip. She's listed in stable condition.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said it interviewed the woman's nephew, 18-year-old Preston Northan, and he admitted to shooting his aunt while robbing her. He was arrested and charged with assault, robbery, and reckless endangerment.

Investigators said the woman is expected to survive her injuries.

A juvenile female and a small child were also inside the home when the shooting occurred. Deputies said the child was in the bed with the victim when the shots were fired. The children were not injured.
