A theft suspect is locked up after he was arrested Thursday by Daphne Police -- but not before he attempted to elude the pursuing officer, crashed one vehicle and attempted to steal a school bus to get away, police said.

Charges against Logan Francis Chambers, 30, of Daphne, include multiple counts of second-degree theft of property, possession of a concealed weapon without a permit, first-degree attempted theft of property and attempting to elude.

Total bond amount was set at $24,000, according to Baldwin County jail records.

Chambers was suspected of multiple car burglaries when he was spotted by a patrol officer, said Daphne Police Capt. Jud Beedy.

The officer attempted to stop Chambers. Beedy told FOX10 News, "He ran for a brief moment. He lost control of the vehicle he was driving. He got out of that vehicle and he was trying to steal a school bus at a day care when police caught him. He was in possession of one stolen gun and there was enough evidence to charge him with the other stolen gun."
