MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - An update on a FOX10 News Investigates Report from last summer.

The Mobile Police Department tells FOX10 News, the investigation into the death of an eight-year-old special needs child has been closed, with police saying the child died of natural causes.

This information was sent to us after FOX10 News asked for an update on the investigation.

Last August, police retracted their initial statement on the child's death investigation, stating the case had been ruled a homicide.  Instead, police said that was an error, and they were still waiting on autopsy results.

Your may remember, in April of this year, police were called to the Sandpiper's Apartments on a call of an unresponsive child.

Mobile Police say the little boy was pronounced dead at the scene.  Sources at the school the child attended contacted FOX10 News with concerns the boy showed signs of neglect.

Those same sources told us they contacted the Department of Human Resources with their concerns.
