(KTRK/CNN) -- A video captured the moment an Amazon delivery driver found a baby abandoned on the side of the road after an apparent carjacking in Texas.

As Houston police were responding to a call about a stolen car and kidnapping on Monday, a home surveillance video captured a man dumping a car seat on the side of the road about a mile away.

Amazon driver Juan Carlos Flores said he spotted the car seat and realized something was not right.

"When I saw that baby, I wanted to cry," Flores told KTRK-TV. “How could someone have the heart to leave a child on the side of the road?”

Flores went to the nearest neighbor to ask if someone who lived there left the baby outside. The homeowner, who asked to remain anonymous, did not know the infant but took the child inside and alerted police.

Flores returned to his route. When he saw officers nearby, he helped lead them to the baby, who had been reported missing.

More officers arrived at the scene shortly after and reunited the child and mother.

Police said the mom was trying to track an iPhone left in the vehicle, in hopes of finding her stolen car and baby.

Investigators believe the driver who left the baby on the side of the road is the carjacking suspect, who police have not yet found.
