Meow mix cat food sold at Walmart stores in eight states has been recalled for Salmonella concerns. 

(Meredith) -- Meow Mix cat food sold at Walmart stores in eight states has been recalled for Salmonella concerns. 

According to an announcement by The J.M. Smucker Co. posted by the FDA, the cat food was sold at Walmart stores in Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. 

"If pet parents have products matching the following description in their possession, they should stop feeding it to their cats and dispose of it immediately," the announcement said. 

The 30-pound bags have lot code 1081804 with an expiration date of 9/14/2022 and lot code 1082804 with an expiration date of 9/15/2022. 

The company said no other Meow Mix products are impacted.
