(Meredith) - A grandfather fought back when a stranger broke into his apartment and tried to kidnap his 6-year-old granddaughter, according to police.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Benjamin Dillon, allegedly entered the home in Lebanon on June 3 and threatened to take the girl, CBS 4 Indianapolis reported.
Patty Roth, the girl's grandmother, said they were sleeping when Dillon stormed into the apartment.
"I was sound asleep in my bedroom and this guy came kicking in and said, 'You have my daughter,'” Roth told the station. “I was nervous, very nervous. I was shaking so bad."
Roth called 911 as her husband tried to get Dillon out of their home. Once police arrived, Dillon allegedly became more aggressive and threatened the officers, who had to use a Taser to subdue him.
The family said they're not sure why their apartment was targeted, but warned the suspect to stay far away.
“I wouldn’t want him walking back in my apartment again. He will regret it the next time,” said Roth.
According to online jail records from the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Dillon is facing multiple charges -- which include burglary, breaking and entering, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.
