MOBILE, Ala. -- A young woman was injured when she fell down a manhole at midday Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal School.

Mobile Fire-Rescue rescuers responded and extricated her from the hole. The incident was just outside a softball field on the campus.

MFRD Public Information Officer Steven Millhouse told FOX10 News the victim is 18 to 20 years old and was trapped about 15 feet below the surface. He said there's "no word on how she arrived at her predicament."

Millhouse said she was rescued from the confined space and transported to University Hospital with a reported lower leg injury.
