High School cheering is a lot more than just Friday nights at the football games.

"Our practice schedule is every day, Monday through Sunday. They are usually about three hour practices,” said Geneva Martin, a Bayside cheerleader.

Bayside Cheer team set to represent at Nationals

For the Bayside Admirals it shows.

"We got a bid to nationals which is in Orlando, Florida. there are 36 high school teams in our division represented all over the United States,” said Coach Samantha Leffard, Bayside’s Varsity Cheer Coach.

Getting the ticket to Nationals is definitely a big deal but they are going for it all.

"We are going for it all that's our goal,” said Coach Leffard.

The ladies think they have what it takes.

"It's making sure you clean just right or your smile is at just right the time or you know you whip your pony just perfectly. It's all of those little things that sets us apart from every other team and I think it’s that sass and that energy that we bring that most people don’t have,” said Martin.

Regardless of the outcome at Nationals, the pride and love this team has for each other will always be golden.

"You know we just kept rising to the challenge and we never stopped, we never gave up. If anything I am just, they are proud of themselves, I am proud of them, and the parents are proud of them because they know all the different obstacles they've gone through,” said Coach Leffard.

"It's less about cheering and getting to wear the uniform and it's more about the sisterhood and the family that we build,” said Martin.
