College baseball is back.

The South Alabama Jaguars return 22 letterwinners from last year's squad including several leaders who are hoping to bring more team chemistry this season.

"Do everything it takes to win. Don't accept failure. Don't let people get down on each other. Just keep everyone up and win,” said Carter Perkins, a South Alabama Senior catcher.

Aside from good team chemistry, head coach Mark Calvi said it's important his team stays healthy if they want to see a long post season run.

"It's very, very important that teams like each other and this team really likes each other. Then you have the health factor. We are for the most part healthy. I like this team if we avoid injuries, unlike last year. If we can stay healthy I think it’s the best pitching staff we've had. We've got some returners. We've got some talented new guys. We are looking forward to the challenge,” said Mark Calvi, South Alabama’s head baseball coach.

The Jags season opener is Friday at Clemson.

Their home opener is scheduled for next Tuesday against Alabama State.
