Young Champions: Local gymnast hopes to jump his way to a three-peat

For 9-year-old, West Fowler, gymnastics is a way of life.

"He learned to walk at eight months old and he learned to roll a day after that. He was doing back hand springs before he was two. He is one of those kids who has a natural athletic ability,” said Blain Fowler, West’s coach and dad.

He spends at least six days a week in this gym and he wouldn't have it any other way.

"My favorite thing about being a gymnast is that I get to do so many new amazing new things that I've never done in my life and some people might say oh my gosh i hope I can do that someday,” said West Fowler, a 9-year-old gymnast.

That dedication explains why west is really good at what he does and he has the titles to prove it.

"Inside me I am crying of amazement because I am the three-time national championship or the two-time national championship, it feels really amazing,” said West.

But for the young champion, it's not about the medals or trophies.

"For him It's not about the winning its about being a part of the atmosphere,” said Blain.

With his talent and mindset, the sky is the limit.

"Never give up on what I do. If I keep trying, I will eventually get it,” said West.
