We've reached that point in the high school baseball season where you want to still be practicing. It’s all about surviving and advancing as the post season starts to wind down.

We have three local teams still alive including two 7A teams that are getting ready to face each other.

"It really does say a lot about the athletes, the coaches, the community in general, we play ball down here,” said Tyler Minto, Baker’s head baseball coach.

The proof is in the pudding as we get ready for an all-Mobile 7A semi-final match up.

The McGill-Toolen yellow jackets versus the Baker hornets.

Baker is coming off a big quarterfinal sweep over the defending state champs, Auburn.

"We knew we were going to see good competition and being where we are in the playoffs we expect nothing less. McGill is going to give us another battle and we are ready for it,” said Minto.

McGill swept Prattville to earn their ticket to their second semi-final in four years.

"We have a lot of guys who have had a lot of experience over the last two or three years," said Tim Becker, McGill-Toolen’s head baseball coach.

Both teams know it's going to take a lot to get past this rivalry best-of-three series.

"Staying focused and really playing together as a team and hard work," said Landon Montgomery, a senior baseball player at Baker.

"We are going to have to come out and be ready. Everyone is going to have to come out and be ready to play,” said Chandler Best, a senior baseball player at McGill-Toolen.

"We are going to have to play our game,” said Minto.

"The great thing we are seeing in our team is we are seeing production one through nine in our lineup,” said Becker.
