Last weekend was one Connor Okrzesik will never forget.

Connor Okrzesik beats Kyle Busch

"It was probably the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life," said Connor Okrzesik, a 17-year-old race car driver.

As the 17-year-old from Grand Bay shocked the racing world when he won the checkered flag and beat the NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Kyle Busch.

"I've recounted it, just reconciled the experience hundreds of times in my head like I actually did this, this is what I did,” said Okrzesik.

A career defying win for a young driver with a lot of great potential ahead.

"The same thing as football or basketball, when you win you are going to gain confidence and that race was a confidence booster for me,” said Okrzesik.

You could tell it was a confidence booster.

"I drove fast, turned left,” said Okrzesik.

All jokes aside, a lot goes into winning any race.

"We start a week or two in advance sometimes. Everything takes time to do. Set up takes a full day maybe two days,” said Okrzesik.

This might be the first time you're hearing Connor’s name but I promise it won't be the last.
