Local efforts to raise awareness of Domestic Violence for DV Month

 

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One group is raising awareness through the use of emojis with a powerful message. Tonie Ann Torrans from Penelope House joined Studio10 along with Author Emily Blejwas joined Studio10 to tell us about a few ongoing events. Here's more:

OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

Mobile, Al. – Efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence will be made throughout the month of October. Please see the attached calendar of events. Also, please consider running our PSAs that have been provided to media, attending and/or promoting events, and/or having a Penelope House representative appear as a guest to discuss domestic violence, assistance available through Penelope House, and discuss the numerous activities planned for October.

What: “Domestic Violence + Emojis = ???” is the theme for the Domestic Violence Awareness Display

Where: The display will travel throughout Mobile

Why: To educate citizens that domestic violence affects the entire community, to help victims of domestic violence break their silence and seek help, and to recognize the importance of law enforcement in addressing domestic violence
