The Mobile Arts Council is having a Members’ Exhibition for the month of August. Over 50 local artists have submitted pieces to be displayed in our gallery, most of which are for purchase. The show will hang for the entire month of August.
Mobile Arts Council is the ONLY community gallery in the area. We focus on displaying works from local artists and our ChARTing New Directions program, which provides arts education to underserved youth. We will also be unveiling a collaborative mural, Cultural Connection, created by young artists at Strickland Youth Center. This will be unveiled at the Fry Building, 412 Dauphin Street, during ArtWalk on Friday, August 10. This project features murals and a documentary produced by young leaders of Mobile County under the leadership of Devin Ford Photography and local artist Soynika Edwards-Bush.
LoDa ArtWalk is the opening night of this exhibition. It takes place Friday, August 10 from 6-9 p.m. at participating venues in downtown Mobile.
LoDa ArtWalk is a recurring event that takes place the first Friday of every month.
We will also have a special closing reception on August 30th from 5-7 p.m. with food and drinks. Members are invited to view the show before it leaves. If you’d like to attend, you can become a member for only $35 a year.
