MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -- The 16-year-old girl accused of stabbing a 15-year-old boy has been booked into Mobile County Metro Jail. 

Destinie'e Rodgers is behind bars on a charge of first-degree assault. Mobile Police said she stabbed the victim on the corner of MLK Avenue and Kennedy Street. The attack happened around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday. 

Mobile Fire-Rescue said the boy was stabbed in the chest and back. He was taken to University Hospital for treatment. Officers said the boy's wounds are serious. 

The victim's name has not been released.
