I’m Chief Meteorologist Jason Smith with your Tuesday evening forecast update. The rip current risk remains high through tonight, with a moderate risk on Wednesday. We are still in a long term drought, though some significant relief has arrived. Rain chances are ramping up and stay elevated through the middle of the week. An upper low over the central US is edging close to us. That is bringing rain chances at 70% again on Wednesday. The severe threat is marginal, mainly for t-storms with gusty winds tomorrow. We still have good rain chances Thursday and Friday as a surface front nears. Expect drier air to arrive by the weekend. A weak surface low is interacting with a surface trough from central Florida to the Atlantic coast. Chances of development are at 20% over the next five days.
Partly cloudy with late night showers or thunderstorms. Low 71F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.
