Severe storms likely Thursday! Be prepared for some rough weather late in the day for our Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center has raised our risk level to Enhanced * That’s level 3 of 5 *. That is a significant severe risk! It’s not often our entire area goes under that high of a risk.
The first storms will move into western parts of our viewing area around 6-7pm. By 8-9pm they will roll into Mobile and the Eastern Shore. From 9-10pm they will move into southern Baldwin and the Pensacola area. After the main line passes, rain should linger for several hours. Remember these times are approximate and this system could speed up or slow down a bit, but regardless we do anticipate this to be a late afternoon/evening event.
The atmosphere will be very unstable and full of turbulent wind shear as these storms approach. It’s a perfect environment for damaging 60+mph straight-line winds and tornadoes embedded in the squall line. Risks of hail and flooding are lower, but still possible.
So please make sure you have a way to get warnings and check in on FOX10 often.
Friday morning that system is gone and it turns much cooler and windy for Good Friday. Highs will only be in the mid 60s.
Easter weekend will be terrific! Cool mornings in the upper 40s and pleasant afternoons in the 70s with clear, sunny skies! Enjoy!
