Dauphin Street shooting stemmed from “jealousy”, case heads to grand jury
The victim, Cody Goff, was not the intended target.
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Mobile County grand jury will now consider charges against a man accused of shooting someone in Mobile’s entertainment district.
UPDATE: Dauphin Street shooting suspect pleads not guilty to assault
A preliminary hearing was held for Michael Sullivan on Wednesday morning.
District Court Judge George Zoghby found probable cause to move the case forward.
A small victory for innocent bystander Cody Goff who was injured during the shooting.
“Every day I’m in pain. I can’t sleep, but you got to take the wins as you get them,” Goff said. “Even if they’re small, today was a good win. So it’s a good day.”
Goff was visibly emotional as he walked out of the courtroom with a cane, still recovering from his injuries.

New details came out on what possibly led to this shooting.
On October 20, several officers responded to Hayley’s bar on Dauphin Street just before midnight after reports of a shooting.
According to an MPD detective testimony, Sullivan had a “personal beef” with a man he believed his estranged wife was having an affair with.
The detective says when Sullivan walked into the bar he saw the two together, became agitated, and fired a shot in his direction.
Police say Sullivan missed his intended target and instead shot Goff.
Goff describes how this last month has been since the traumatic shooting.

“I’m still in the healing stage. Complications can come as they have,” Goff said. “But again I take the wins when I can.”
The detective says there was no evidence of an affair between Sullivan’s intended target and his estranged wife.
Goff says regardless this shouldn’t have happened.
“At the end of the day, it’s a person who did a hateful act out of anger. It doesn’t matter the specifics of it,” he said. “It’s still a stupid act that shouldn’t have happened in the first place. It is what it is.”
Sullivan remains in Metro Jail on a $25,000 bond.
