PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - FOX10 News has a tragic update on a shooting in Prichard earlier this year.

The victim Kamrin Tilley, a former Blount High School student, recently died from his injuries.

Tilley was shot at St. Stephens Woods apartments in May and has been in the hospital ever since.

Tilley’s mother Reshundra Tilley says he was shot eight times and underwent more than twenty surgeries.

Reshundra says she finds comfort in knowing her son is at peace now.

“No parent wants to see their child like that and I hear a lot of people saying suffering. He didn’t suffer. My child didn’t suffer. He’s in peace, he’s at peace, I’m at peace and I know he’s in a better place. "

Kamrin spent the last seven months at University Hospital.

According to court documents, Kamrin was walking at the apartments when two people started shooting at him.

The documents say Kamrin fired back.

His mother says he’s been fighting ever since but died from those injuries this week.

“Kamrin was not able to eat or digest anything from those injuries. He was shot multiple times, he was shot eight times,” Reshundra said.

The two people arrested for the shooting are Joshua Caster and Montrez Knight.

Caster’s case has been bound over to a grand jury.

Court documents say Knight’s case is on hold because he’s currently in ICU at University Hospital after a car accident.

Reshundra says her son was a shining light at the hospital.

Especially to the doctors and nurses who spent the last two hundred-plus days caring for him.

“When they got the news that Kamrin passed those nurses cried worse than me and my family members did. Cause like I said they were so attached to Kamrin the bond and the impact Kamrin left with those nurses and stuff,” she said. “Everybody loved Kamrin and Kamrin loved everybody. He was very funny he was a YouTuber he loved YouTube he was very very silly.”

Reshundra said she wants others to keep their children close to prevent tragedies like this.

“I’ll tell anybody right now stop the violence and if your kid is out there with a gun I’ll tell anybody grab a hold to your kid cause those guns out here, especially those AR what they’re called, it’s nothing they want to have,” she said.

FOX10 News reached out to the Mobile County District Attorney’s office to find out if Caster and Knight’s charges will now be upgraded to murder.

We’re told it will be presented to a grand jury first.

The mother also encourages anyone to come forward with information.
