Enterprise petting zoo destroyed, all animals killed in fire
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) - An Enterprise petting zoo was destroyed by an early morning fire, killing all of their animals.
“After 17 years in business, we lost everything,” Two BY Two Petting Zoo said in a statement posted on their social media pages on Thursday afternoon. “The fire spread incredibly fast, and by the time help arrived, none of our animals could be saved.”
The petting zoo, which sat on the County Road 540 property owned by Stephanie and Charles Jones, was destroyed along with their “Party Barn” venue after a fire sparked up, as well as all of the barns animals, including lambs, bunnies, birds and other critters.
“For those who truly know our family, you know this loss goes far beyond a business. Our animals were our livelihood, our passion, and our family,” Two BY Two’s statement continued. “Outside of our walk with Christ, they were our daily purpose. To lose what feels like the majority of our family in a matter of moments is a pain that words cannot fully describe.”
Multiple departments responded to the fire, including Enterprise Fire Department, New Brockton Fire Department, Enterprise Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
“We are incredibly grateful to (these departments), and every single person who has called, texted, shown up, prayed, or reached out in love,” Two BY Two said. “Every act of kindness has been seen and felt more than you know.”
A cause for the fire is not immediately known at this time.
